Wine Rood’s Estate 1823: The Appraisement

As listed in the Probate Index there was an inventory an appraisement made of the personal property of Wine Rood.  I was having trouble reading the dates and handwriting.  I am not totally sure of the order in which these entries were written so I have placed them in what I believe to be the correct sequence.

Wine Rood Appraisement

Inventory of the Personal Property belonging to the Estate of Wine Rood, late of Fearing deceased——-

    • One yoke of Oxen 24.00 – 4 Calves 4.00
    • One Three year old Heifer 5.00 3 yearlings 9.00
    • Two Steers and one Heifer 12.00 3 Sheep & one Lamb 3.00
    • One Oat Stack 20 Bushells at one Shilling & bushels 3.33
    • One Waggon and Harnefs 30.00 One Horse 20.00
    • One Plow Iron 1.25 Poni Chairs 1.00
    • Total Amount $111.58

We hereby certify the foregoing to be a true Inventory and Appraisement of the Personal Property belonging to the Estate of Wine Rood late of Fearing deceased as set forward by the Executors.   Signed by Amos Porter, The [                    ] of Samuel Cook and Thos [Hall]

Salem, Washington County State of Ohio

This certifies the within names Samuel Cook and Thomas Hall were duly sworn as appraisers for the Estate of Wine Rood late of Fearing deceased and that they did proceed to the farm and the within is the Inventory of the personal property of the said Rood.   Amos Porter Jus Peace

The foregoing Inventory and Appraisement of the personal property belonging to the Estate of Wine Rood of Fearing in said County declared having been executed in agreement with the law is ordered by the Court to be recorded.  Attest Geo. Dunlevy Clk.

Ordered by the Court that Thomas Hall, Samuel Cook & Amos Porter did appraise the Personal Property belonging to the Estate of Wine Rood late of Fearing in said County Deceased according to law.

Witnefs the Honorable Ezra Osborn Esquire ……..Marietta said County this 21st of November A.D. 1824  …..Dunlevy Clk.
