He is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery or Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa.  I have not yet visited Solomon’s grave site so I will have to refer you to the Find A Grave site to see his tombstone.\

Louisa Spracklen lived 19 years beyond her husband Solomon. She is also buried in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens cemetery in Missouri Valley. She died 14 December 1928. Louisa shares her tombstone with her son Jesse who passed on 7 July 1917.  Below is Louisa’s obituary notice.  Unfortunately I do not know which newspaper or what date this obituary notice was published.  I assume it is the local paper.

“Jesse Josiah Spracklin, son of Solomon G. and Louisa J. Spracklin, was born April 4, 1874 and died at the home of his sister Mrs. Charles Anthony, on July 7, 1917. About 17 years ago he went to Frankfort, South Dakota and went into business where he prospered. On Oct. 27, 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Vaulder, who died on Nov. 30 of the same year. His health having failed, he came back to Modale, where he has lived with his mother for the past five years. He leaves to mourn his mother and six sisters. On May 9 he confessed his faith in Jesus and was baptized.”

There are probate files on both Solomon Goss Spracklin and Louisa.  I have a copy of Solomon Goss Spracklin’s will only. I did not obtain Louisa’s file. Solomon’s will is a wonderful document in that he states exactly who his descendants are and they are all women which are difficult to trace.  His will agrees with the list of children I have already posted, except there is no mention of Jesse? This means a search of deeds might be in order for Solomon Goss Spracklin and Jesse to see if he bequeathed to his son at an earlier time? Because Solomon and Louisa had divorced he is quite specific about who inherits his estate in his will.  I have chosen not to share it online, so if you are interested in obtaining a copy leave me a comment.  The copy I have is typed which means it is not an original and a visit to the courthouse in Harrison County, Iowa would be a good thing to do to see if an original exists.

This concludes my posting on Solomon Goss Spracklen and Louisa.  I have a lot more documentation and photographs so if you are a descendant and would like to share please contact me by leaving a comment and I can take it from there.
