John Andrews Spracklin has been featured on this blog in many posts for he is my 3rd great grandfather. He is the son of Peter and Betty Spracklin.
There is a page at the top of this blog summarizing, in a table of contents, the posts written and published about John A. Spracklin, his wife Lydia Goss and their children. You will find it below the picture by hovering over the page covering his parents Peter and Elizabeth (Betty) Spracklin. This will give you a listing of posts to help you in finding more information about their lives.
In 2013, I was in Salt Lake City attending the British Institute’s class on Pre-1850 English Records and while I was there I did some research at the Family History Library on the Spracklin’s seeking their vital records. I cannot claim credit for finding John’s baptismal record because many cousins have gone before me. I have taken their information and sought out the records for myself based on their findings.
John A. Spracklin was baptized in Pitney, Somerset, England to Peter and Betty Spracklin on 9 January 1795. John is above the 1796 second one from the bottom.

There are many ways to seek out the records in the Family History Library about parishes in England. I am just learning but there are published books by W.P.W. Phillimore that can be a way to check for vitals and then try to seek them in the actual record. There are also Bishop Transcripts which are copies of the registers and they can also be helpful. More and more of the records are appearing online as well. So this is just the beginning of my learning English research.
